Ministry of silly walks

I was kind of hoping the video of the finish would show a little bit more of my post marathon attempt at walking but it does catch a bit of a wobble. Enjoy! :D

    1. Thank you but I can't take credit for the first half, ran with 3 hour group. I guess the last part I was just in a groove, if only it could have been a faster one! I didn't wear a watch, kind of hate the garmin!

  2. That is an amazing race, and the way I look at it you didn't blow, you set out just to slow... I have lead many a sub 3 bus and the aim is alway 21:00 at 5km. yes you did pull it back nicely in the 5 to 15km, but I feel we (non pro's) need a couple of minutes in the bag, I would have had you aim at 88 for the 1st half, and then if you were strong picking it up for a 2h55 or hanging in for a 2h59.

    1. and there it is, the truth. My coach wanted me to go out faster and my head wasn't there. I do feel like I was a bit of a wimp in this one but lack of racing and the fact I'm improving all the time ie I've come from such a slow place left me uncertain.
I was a bit scared of the distance and the uncertainty of what would happen to me in those last 6 miles if I 'blew up'. This was only marathon number 2.
I know what I have now and I'm very confident I'm going to be in way better shape for the next one so there will be no 3 hour pace group, I will go for it from the gun.
My training buddy gave it what she had from the gun and I admire her for that, but maybe all the marathons she's done and her faith in her 'bible' Jack Daniels allowed her that courage. I aim to emulate that courage next time.

  3. EXCELLENT job, girl!!!!! From what I heard, that Houston weather wasn't too pretty, either. All your hard work and determination paid off. VERY happy for you; you totally deserve this! Recover well; you have lots of great things in store for you.

    1. Thank you! The weather was great really. Imagine if it had been hot and humid and you know Houston can do that to you in January! So I for one, was happy to be stood in the icy cold rain, ready and raring to go ;D

    2. 12 min miles? That is awesome that you timed them! I am always afraid to time my miles when I have severe DOMS ;)
